The main areas of activities are:

• RTD in solar cell technology;
• RTD in self-formation of artificial systems;
• information communication systems development, digitalisation of scientific and cultural content; and development of RTD in the area of fuel cells.

Links and relations with the Lithuanian and European institutions:

• UNESCO has supported the elaboration of RILSS programme "Lithuanian National Solar Programme 2000-2005"
• co-operation with Forshungzentrum Julich (Germany), Central laboratory of Solar Energy and New Energy Sources (Bulgaria) on proposals in preparation for the Fifth Framework Programme Part B, Energy
• participation in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage Digitalisation Programme, development of a Virtual Library of classical world literature.
• participation in the European Commission EESD part B Energy Programme Committee
• participation in the Council of Renewable Resources in Kaunas Technological University
• participation in the Commission of Renewables in the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences

Staff available as contractors for project performance: from 10 to 50. Permanent staff: 5 persons.
